Report

Stirling Albion succumbed to a 0-3 defeat to Edinburgh City at Forthbank in the William Hill League Two.

The first half saw Connor Young fire the visitors into the lead with a stunning long-range free kick that left Derek Gaston rooted to the spot.

The second goal came shortly after, again stemming from a Connor Young free kick. Gaston parried the initial effort, but the rebound fell kindly for Dylan Wells, who tapped it in from close range.

Edinburgh City sealed the victory in the second half when Ouzy See slid the ball under Gaston from close range, securing a convincing win for the visitors.

Alan Maybury made two changes to the starting XI from the midweek match against Bonnyrigg Rose with Ricky Waugh and James Graham replacing Dale Hilson and Ross Davidson.

Connor Young had the visitors’ first chance of the game five minutes in to open the scoring, and it was a huge opportunity that went begging. A long ball found him as he broke through the Stirling defence, going one-on-one with Derek Gaston, but his shot went wide.

Adam Brown received the ball on the edge of the box and had a scuffed effort at goal, but Mark Weir got down well to smother it.

Harry Wright made a darting run up the left wing and cut the ball back to Dale Carrick, whose shot was parried by Mark Weir into the path of James Graham, six feet from goal. However, Graham blasted his shot over the bar.

Stirling Albion’s next attempt came courtesy of Ricky Waugh, who received the ball just outside the box and tried to curl it into the top left corner of the net, but his effort went over.

Only a minute later, on the counter-attack, Connor Young had another attempt on target from point-blank range, but Derek Gaston did tremendously well to block the shot and keep the scores level.

The striker finally got his goal on his third attempt in the 35th minute. His free kick from 25 yards soared into the Stirling net, leaving Derek Gaston rooted to the spot.

Connor Young took another free kick, which was parried away by Derek Gaston, only for Dylan Wells to collect the rebound and fire the ball into the Binos’ net from close range, putting City two ahead with 38 minutes on the clock.

Half-Time: 0-2

In an effort to get back into the game, Alan Maybury made three changes at half-time, with Erik Sula, Harry Wright, and James Graham making way for Bailey Dall, Dale Hilson, and Cooper Knox.

Stirling had a huge chance to pull a goal back as the ball bounced around on the City goal line, seemingly waiting to be tapped into the net. However, no player was able to get a decisive touch to convert the opportunity.

Another free kick for Edinburgh City proved troublesome as Connor Young rifled the ball goalward once again, but this time his effort flew high and wide.

Edinburgh City extended their lead in the 75th minute through Ouzy See. The striker made no mistake from six yards out, calmly tapping the ball under Gaston and into the net.

City could have easily added a fourth when Innes Lawson found himself one-on-one with Derek Gaston, but he fluffed his lines and placed the ball wide.

Stirling had a late chance to grab a consolation goal when Ally Roy received the ball inside the box from close range, but his shot went off target, sealing a 0-3 victory for the visitors.

Full-Time: 0-3
