Elgin City 4 Stirling Albion 0 Match Report

Stirling Albion travelled to Elgin to take on 2 nd in the league, Elgin City F.C. After a
strong game against Airdrieonians in the KDM Trophy, Josh Mullen was back
captaining for this league match. A few other changes to the starting lineup included
Andrew McNeil back in goals and Russell McLean at forward. Top goal scorer
Jordan Allan did not start as Elgin went 2-0 before the half time break. In the end, the
home side dominated the match as they won 4-0 over the Binos.
The first shot on target was for Stirling as McLean managed to win the battle in the
left-hand corner to find the feet of Mullen. Despite his control, he could not get the
power to reach the back of the net just five minutes into the half.
Dobbie continued to prove his dominance in the centre field with another chance for
the away side as he found the gaps in Elgin’s defence. Shortly after, McNab got the
rebound and a strike past Elgin but unfortunately, it hit the left post.
28 th minute and Elgin City seemed to have warmed up their feet as the first goal was
in their favour. Kyle Girvan fired a shot from the penalty spot after the team took their
throw in quickly which allowed the home forwards the space for their solid attack.
Ten minutes later, Mark Gallagher scored the second for Elgin as the side attempted
to find the space in McNeil’s box. Gallagher managed to tap it into the net from the
left side. Stirling followed with a series of corners as they looked to get a score on
the board.
McLean added to numerous strong Stirling attempts as the team was down to 10
men due to Banner injury. The forward managed to keep the ball alive in the left
corner and took the sharp angle in a last attempt before the half time whistle.

Half Time: Stirling Albion 0 – 2 Elgin City

After a delayed start to the second half Stirling kicked off substitutions as Jordan
Allan replaced Kyle Banner.
Elgin almost made it 3-0 as Kane Hester took a turn and shoot from the left side
which, fortunately for Stirling, narrowly missed the right post.
Hester did not call it there as seconds after in the 55 th minute, he had a one-on-one
chance with McNeil who made a big save for Stirling to keep them in with a chance
of equalising.
Elgin City made it 3-0 as a free kick from Jack Maciver found Oli Colloty in the box
who made it a hat-trick for the squad in 60 th minute.
63 rd minute and substitutions for Elgin as Matty Grant and Lewis Mackay replaced
Lyall Booth and Liam Scullion. Stirling also substituted Robbie McNab, Russel
McLean, and Lucas Fyfe for Harry Wright, Austin Laird, and Zeke Cameron.

With Jordan back on the field, he had the first real chance for Stirling in the half as
Laird and Mullin desperately tried to get the ball into the box.
Goal scorer Oli Colloty was replaced by Calum Brown in the 74 th minute for Elgin
City.
Poor mistakes from Stirling allowed a fourth for the city in the 77 th minute. Calum
Brown had too much space down the middle as he took Dobbie out the game for a
one on one that McNeil couldn’t win this time.
Elgin replaced Kane Hester and Mark Gallagher with Aaron Cummings and Sam
McLean with ten minutes left to play. Soon after Robin Raine replaced Josh Mullin.
Towards the end of the second half, Elgin City continued to dominate their attacking
over Stirling and unfortunately Stirling could not narrow the home side’s goal lead.
