From Stranraer to Stirling – Russell Joins The Binos

Stirling Albion Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Mark Russell, who joins the club following his spell with Stranraer FC.

The 29-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Forthbank, having played extensively across the Scottish leagues as well as in Ireland and Northern Ireland. A versatile and energetic performer, Russell is capable of operating in defence or midfield, offering versatility and quality to the Binos squad.

Russell began his career with Greenock Morton, coming through the youth ranks and making his senior debut at just 17 years old. He quickly established himself as a regular, earning a place in the PFA Scotland League One Team of the Year during the 2014/15 season.

After spells with Falkirk, Finn Harps, and Galway United, Russell gained further valuable experience with Portadown, where he played a key role in promotion success and domestic cup runs. Most recently, he featured prominently for Stranraer FC, becoming an influential figure with his work rate, creativity, and leadership.

Known for his left foot, tactical intelligence, and versatility, Russell adds both experience and depth to the Stirling Albion squad coming into the later period of the 2025/26 season.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Russell said ”I’m delighted to be joining Stirling Albion, as soon as I spoke to the gaffer it was something I was keen to get done. I’m really looking forward to it!”
